Midori Evans, Author
Midori Evans, founder of Midori Creativity and Write With Community lives to create community, connection, and meaning. A lifelong creative explorer, Midori is a gifted writer, photographer, and musician and draws inspiration from the natural world in her work. Since 2019, she has been leading innovative creative community programming across the South Coast. She conceived of Westport Writes Together, a participatory community writing experience in Westport in 2021-2022, founded the Westport Writers Group in 2022, and contributed to and co-produced Waterscapes (2025) and The Landscape About Us (2024), the local anthology series featuring writing and photography about the South Coast. Both anthologies earned honors by the Book Awards at the Independent Publishers of New England (IPNE). For three years, she curated Meditations on Landscape, an exhibition she designed pairing SouthCoast writers and photographers held at Dedee Shattuck Gallery. This exhibition grew into a ten-day festival of community programming.
For six years running, she has been hosting Artists Share!, a welcoming and supportive feedback circle for artists in Greater New Bedford who work in a variety of artistic mediums. To showcase the power of cross-pollination, she received an additional grant in 2025 and in 2026 to curate and display Creative Catalysts, a multi-month exhibition in New Bedford at the gallery at Groundwork featuring Artists Share! artists and others working in mediums as diverse as feltwork, masks, jigsaw puzzles, multi-media video, art with bees, and masks.
Midori has served on both the Westport and New Bedford Cultural Councils. She was one of the original steering committee members for the South Coast Spring Arts festival, now ArtWeek South Coast. For three years, she has served as the Educational Programming Director and been a Steering Committee member of the Alumni Network of Harvard Women.
Midori was recently featured on the SouthCoast Artists Index podcast and presented at two Artists Index salons in 2026, discussing Grant Writing and Write With Community and its role in promoting the literary arts of the SouthCoast. Finally, she has personally contributed to four anthologies about creativity and writing. Her chapters on journaling and creative practice appear in The Great Book of Journaling, Transformational Journaling for Coaches, Therapists, and Clients, The Creativity Workbook for Coaches and Creatives, and The Coach’s Guide to Completing Your Work.
