Next — Westport Writes Together

A whole town writing together. Students at the school. People at the library. Customers buying scones at the local cafe. Writing about the seasons and about where they live.

We’ve been loving some of the short garden poems we’ve gotten. “Dancing in sweet fresh air” welcomed us into the spring writing season while another writer’s plants celebrated her, whispering to her “your soul is green!”

Looking beyond the spring prompt, what has it been like to be guiding the Westport Writes project behind the scenes? Krista Allen, one of the board members told us,“Participating in Westport Writes gave me an opportunity to meet new people in the community. I was encouraged to venture outside my reclusive corner during the colder months, converse with other local writers, and break out of my comfort zone by sharing my creative ramblings. I look forward to future projects like this and I am grateful to have found a kindred group of dedicated lexiphiles.”

Are your words blossoming? Where do you write? Have you ever brought a journal or a sketchbook to sit by the ocean or under your favorite tree? Do you have a garden bench where you can sit and admire the scents and colors of your garden?

The project also brought people together to write and they have now formed the Westport Writers Group. They meet monthly to write together and welcome writers in the area!
